The PGY1 pharmacy resident is a full-time Aultman Alliance Community Hospital (AACH) colleague.
The position is a terminal 12-month training program that runs from July 1st to June 30th.
PGY1 pharmacy residents, under the supervision of the Residency Program Director (RPD) and qualified preceptors, take responsibility for the safety, appropriateness, and success of the medication regimens prescribed for our patients.
They develop, execute, and monitor patients' pharmaceutical care plans for safety and effectiveness; educate healthcare professionals and patients about drugs and drug therapy; recommend medication changes to optimize therapy, and perform collaborative prescribing duties as required.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE AND APPLICATION PROCESS:
The applicant must be a graduate from an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program.
The applicant must be a citizen of the U.
S.
A.
, or hold a visa allowing for the completion of the residency year.
Applicants must be eligible for licensure in Ohio and obtain licensure to practice pharmacy in Ohio licensure as soon as possible, and within the requirements of the residency policy (i.
e.
failure to obtain Ohio licensure within 90 days of the start of the residency may subject the individual to termination from the program).
Qualified applicants shall submit a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, college of pharmacy transcripts, and three letters of recommendation in accordance with American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) requirements by the due date (typically early January of the year in which the residency program is to begin).
When the number of applicants outnumbers the available interviews, the residency program director along with at least one additional residency preceptor shall review the application materials and select qualified candidates for an interview.
A qualified applicant is determined by the following:

Interviews are arranged by the program director or coordinator.
Candidates will be interviewed by the program director, pharmacy manager, at least 1 clinical pharmacist and at least 1 MEDS Clinic pharmacist using the standardized interviewer forms.
Each candidate will also complete a 15-minute presentation on a topic of their choosing and a case work-up.
Must be computer-literate to complete task(s) as required, such as Meditech (Hospital Support Software), Halogen (performance appraisal system), Relias (education system), ability to retrieve e-mails, complete on-line enrollment for health insurance/benefits and any other programs as assigned.
