POSITION
Summary:
The Activity Aide assists in the planning, organizing, and leading of activity programs for residents.
Recreation may include sports, dramatics, nature study, social recreation, games, and arts and crafts based upon residents' needs.
The Activity Aide prepares reports on the residents' progress as required.
Essential Functions:
1.
Assists in planning recreation activities based on the needs and interests of the resident.
2.
Encourages social communication through group recreation.
3.
Provides programs of sensory training, reality orientation, re-motivation, and re- socialization on an individual and group basis.
4.
Assists residents with participation in religious programs.
5.
Assists residents with leisure recreation.
6.
Visits resident and non-participants and provides appropriate recreation services.
7.
Assists with the daily radio program, the monthly newsletter, and recreation calendar as assigned.
8.
Documents resident attendance and participation level at recreation programs.
May assist with writing progress notes, if applicable.

Maintains recreation department supplies at appropriate inventory levels and stores supplies in an organized manner.

Assists with volunteer program and volunteer appreciation events.
11.
Assists with transporting residents to and from recreation programs.
12.
Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.
OTHER DUTIES:
1.
Interacts with residents, families, visitors, facility and corporate staff.
2.
Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required.
3.
May be required to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, additional hours, and in different positions as the facility's needs require.
4.
Must practice good personal hygiene and follow the dress code requirements.
6.
Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test as required.
Qualifications:
1.
High school degree or equivalent.
2.
Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the facility.
OTHER
Qualifications:
1.
Must have verbal and written communication skills.
2.
Must have well-developed organizational abilities.
3.
Must have some arts and craft ability and knowledge.
4.
Must be able to perform record keeping and documentation as necessary.
